AAU Appoints Director of Sports
The AAU Director of Sports position is a key component within the AAU, managing the AAU sports programs. Mr. Parker will oversee the various AAU Youth and Adult sports — encompassing more than 35 sports programs, 250 national championships, and over 30,000 age division events. The Director of Sports works closely with Disney Sports Attractions to host the over thirty (30) AAU National Championships held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports® Complex annually. These events include numerous Girls & Boys Basketball National Championships and the nationally reknown 16U & 17U Boys Basketball Super Showcases. Disney also holds many Baseball National Championships, the Volleyball Classic and Girls Junior Volleyball National Championships as well as Track & Field Club Nationals and Wrestling Scholastic Duals. No stranger to the AAU, Mr. Parker has been with the AAU for over seven (7) years as Sport Manager for Boys’ and Men’s Basketball, Trampoline and Tumbling and assisted with the Girls 'N Sports event. Prior to his work with the AAU, Mr. Parker was affiliated in various capacities with organizations such as the International Basketball League, Orlando Magic of the NBA, and Old Dominion University. He attended Patrick Henry High School in Ashland, Virginia where he lettered in baseball and basketball. Mr. Parker holds a Bachelors of Science in Sports Administration from Old Dominion University and a Masters in Business Administration from Webber International University. Like many of
the AAU’s young athletes, Mr. Parker dreamed of
participating at the next level when he became an adult.
He has accomplished his dream of working in sports at the
very highest level - truly adhering to the AAU's mission
